So, this week I tried to think of ideas and consepts for the patterning on the rug.

I thought of maybe like a bones-muscles-fur layers type thing.

And a holes-in-animals-with-plants-growing-out type thing.... a motif in some other paintings in my senior project.

Cooper's Project:

I'm going to make a bear rug of sorts out of taxidermy form(s), fabric/faux fur, and clay. It may have many heads, or legs, or be a strange shape or have odd patterns or something to tie it in with my senior show... I haven't decided the specifics yet. If I have time, it would also be fun to do something with one of the full-body taxidermy forms.

I like the ones with the jaw-sets installed. I've ordered taxidermy forms before, but never ones with jaw sets.
These mountain lion forms would be amazing but are expensive.

These fawns are more reasonably priced and I could connect them into one 8 legged, two headed fawn...

All my works consist of some kind of screen printing, it was my first time experimenting with this medium and loved it. I plan to do more drawings and designs with screen printing, I'm actually doing some paintings in my senior show with a mix-medium of acrylic paints and screen print over lays.

Finally, I decided to use plexiglass, glass paint, and liquid leading to make my kaleidoscope inspired painting series.

Just went over all the outlines with a bottle of liquid leading, I will apply color to it later after the leading dried. : )

In my Enviromental graphic class I found myself enjoying the process of making models and even more making them function with a marble. So I decided to pursue that direction. I will make a marble maze using paper, and woodsticks and any materials I feel I need to use. I will also incorporate paper sculpture and origami

ok, so this isnt entirely related to anything, but i thought a lot of people would like to see this. i have been skeptical of the movie Coraline because i havent really ever been a big fan of the way tim burton-y films look. BUT they have one of the most interesting little marketing/word spreading/showing off how cool they are campaigns i have seen. mostly i'm just jealous. they sent (slash are sending) 50 handmade boxes to various bloggers that they like. they are filled, beautifully, with tiny props, scraps, keys, buttons, all beautifully arranged and labelled, from the movie. sooo cool. nuuuh.
this is my favorite- all of these tools are NOT metal. they are handmade. jesus.

The idea is starting move away from layering found paper into a sculpture/form and more towards using it/the selective removal of as a medium. Wouldn't necessarily be portraits, thinking could also work in copying old master paintings as well, recoginizable imagery. Some inspiration below, basic style looks. Would hope to include more content within the parts that aren't torn (unlike directly below, which is all from one large ad, as well as stencil marked/cut).

I came home to find my shower running, and when I opened the curtain, something invisible starting attacking me (also while photographing it somehow). It sucked. Luckily I could see the bastard cause the water still was outlining the body, so I decked him once and booked the hell out of there, locking the bathroom up tight. Now I have to go pee in the sink.
